Depicted is the Egyptian myth of creation and the origins of love:

"Before the beginning of Time everything was an eternal One.  Then God Ra created the world by slicing the One into Two Parts.  Thus he created God of Earth, Geb; Goddess of the Sky, Nut; and God of Air and Moisture, Tfu.  When Nut and Geb, who had been forever one, realized they had been separated, they suffered greatly.  But nothing could stop the process of creation.  The Goddess of the Sky, in desperation, stretched her arms and legs as much as she could and finally she was able to touch again her lover, Earth, with her feet and hands.  That's why, at the horizon, we can see sky and earth touching each other: desperate lovers forever engaged in a cosmic love."
